Adipav is the organization that manages the national and international competitions of pati a vela. They gather the reults of the local competitions and make a general leaderboard to know who classified to compete on the bigger tournaments.
I worked side by side with a colleague on the development of a tool that helped Adipav manage thir competitions, events, sailors, and general leaderboard. For the users, we developed an app with easy access to all the information, as well as a personal digital ID card to identify themselves at various competitions.
Problem
Adipav did not have a simple and effective way of organizing their regattas, and gather the results of the local regattas organized by each club, so they needed a tool where they could get the results from all the different competitions, sort the sailors depending on various metrics, and inform the necessary ones that they were invited to their tournaments.
After creating the CPVB app, for one of the local clubs in Barcelona, Adipav asked us to develop a similar app for their organization. They did not have an effective way of gathering and sorting the data and needed a more professional way.
We already had experience with my colleague, so the organization and planning was straight forward. We had a couple of people from Adipav help us with the design and the necessary features and we started developing the admin panel.
Once the admin panel was linked to the database and up and running, we started developing the app for the users. We needed to come up with a system that would allow each sailor to have an already created account and somehow let them login in a secure way.
Both the app and the admin panel needed a lot of different features, such as calendar, news, general leaderboard, favorite events, personalize the id card and personal prize list.
Our solution ~ main features

For the user part, we created a simple and intuitive app, where the main feature was the ID. In order to create the account and let the users login, we assigned a mail to each user and sent a provisional password and a change password link, so everyone could personalize their account.
The calendar is a year vision with all the regattas marked in blue, and the favorite ones in red. When a month is clicked, the user can see the regattas, the hyperlinks to the regattas info and mark them as favorite, so they show in the main page.
Then there is the news, ranking and prize list features where they show important and personalized information to each user.
Lastly, all the app is fully customizable, there are 3 lenguages options Catalan, Spanish and English. The user can change the background image of their ID card, and they can upload an image in the back of the ID like the federations license or other useful cards.
For the admin side, we developed two admin pannels. One for the organization and one for the clubs. The organization can manage the clubs, news, regattas and sailors, creating, deleting and editing them. But the main usage is having a general leaderboard.
The clubs, can upload their sailors, regattas and the local regattas results, so Adipav can have a record of all the results for all the regattas in the country.
